Here is a small collection of gardening proverbs:

April Showers bring May Flowers

He that plants a tree plants for posterity.

Gardens, like money in the bank, accumulate interest as they grow

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence.

The early bird catches the worm.

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Can't see the forest for the trees

I am a huge fan of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books but I think I have found my favorite: "Chicken Soup for the Gardener’s Soul, 101 Stories to Sow Seeds of Love, Hope and Laughter". This book brings forth the inner spirit of the gardener in all of us. If you aren’t already a gardener, this book will surely give you the gentle nudge you need to become one. Each story seemed better than the next and I had trouble deciding which one was my favorite. I laughed, cried and smiled as I read how nature, flowers, and gardening have such a powerful impact on so many people’s lives. If you love all things green…..this is the book for you!

Chinese Gardening Proverbs

One who plants a garden, plants happiness.
If you would be happy all your life, plant a garden

A thorn defends the rose, harming only those who would steal the blossom

Some prefer carrot while others like cabbage

Flowers leave some of their fragrance in the hand that bestows them

All gardeners know better than other gardeners.

The pine stays green in winter. Wisdom in hardship.

If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.

Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come.
